4days 3 night trip to Wayanad - Celebrating 10th Anniversary

It is a most important milestone in our life... Successfully completed 10 year of lovely journey. So fast things moved that we still feel like a newly wed, we still exchange personal stories like new couple, In fact we still live like just married.

Now coming to trip details, Feb is non-peak season and not that great time for traveling...Nowadays hill stations are much hotter than Bangalore in summers...With a quick research we decided Wayanad  which was there in our life from long back.

Resort tips:

• Mobile signal only near reception area...
• Room tips:
• If go with earth room, first floor is good. We took Earth room.
• If you go for Suites, then ask for a suite just below spa...Its very nicely located
• Loghut has a nice view of pond but very costly and not that worth
• Choose Family Package which covers few side seeing places also.
• Please note package includes only journey. Rest all expenses are yours.
• Do not use spa...Not that great place.

Actual Story Starts...

Day-1:

  Started journey on 5am...I know its too early but want to skip heavy Mysore road traffic...Reached Mysore by 7am. Had breakfast in Kamat which comes on the way.

 Reached the resort by ???11am. Finished CheckIn formalities  and we are in to room...We choose earth room and rooms were very very spacious and super clean. Please note this is eco resort where you don;t get AC. The entire resort is made up of MUD and rooms are cool all the time irrespective of weather outside.

Had a nice Kerala style Lunch and took a nice nap.

Plantation Walk:
Woke up at 4pm and went for Tea estate trek. This is part of their package where they took us to tea garden which is near to resort, after tea estate, showed us a cave which was kings hide out. Nothing special of this cake. All you see a small pit with cake like opening. Then took us to small water fall area... We saw only rocks with little water only....Anyway it was a nice trek of ~2-3KM. Nothing great of the activity but enjoyed a mini trek. We are tired and back to resort.

Evening explored the resort, played some indoor games (billiards, caroms and small air hockey) ..

Had nice north Indian style dinner and slept for the day.


Day-2:

Trek to a small Peak:
 Woke up 6am and went for next trek to small peak behind the resort. Actually the entire area belongs to resort only. Resort is almost 30Acres big. This was great trek in fact. Walking early morning in dense forest kind of place, listing to birds  was great feeling. Got a nice views of entire banasura hill from peak we reached. Sat there for some time enjyong the climate and stepped back to room.

Banasura Dam:

 Had a nice breakfast and started journey to Banasura dam at 10am. This is an second largest earth dam in Asia. Reached there in just 30min. We spent almost 2 hours there. Best part of this Dam is Speed boat ride. They charged Rs.700 per boat where 5 packs can sit. We took one boat and soon one more couple joined us and we shared the cost.
It was an awesome ride. They took really far far away on water with great speed. Did some tricks sliding the boat. There is a small park also but we didn't go.

Reached back Resort by 2pm and again took a nice nap....

Woke up 5pm. Today we played badminton for good time outdoor. And played some more games indoor. Had a nice dinner and done for the day.

Day-3:
 Today the plan was to go for Tholpetty forest Safari. There are not much animals you can expect from this reserve... So we skipped this and asked to replace with Edakkal Cakes.

Edakkal Cave
Started the journey by 8am and reached there by 10am.???... This is an most interesting place if you love history, Humans early settlements during stone age.
In fact its not a cave rather a place where huge stone fell in between and formed a nice place with small entry. This suites best for people to live and protect them from wild animals.
People used to live here around 5000BC to 1000BC. The best part of cave is drawings. Early Stone age humans sketched many drawings on cave walls using their stone weapons. We can clearly see few human drawings, elephant and few animals.

Sad part is, The place is at very high and needs at least 30-45 mins of trekking on hundreds of steps...We were completely tiered by the time we reach there.

Spent some time learning the history from local guide there, took few pics and started stepping down.

After Edakkal Cave, there was some flower show on the way... Cannot be compared with our  Lalbhag shows. Just had a quick run around the park. It was nice with colorful flowers...

Reached Resort by 2:30pm and we are very hungry. Ate and quickly went to take nap as our body no more supports any activity...

Evening spent good time taking snaps covering entire resort and slept off...

Day-4:

   So soon we reached last day of our trip...Had early 8am breakfast we checked out soon as we want to cover Iruppu falls also.

Iruppu falls 
  Reached Iruppu by 10am. Again we have to do small trekking to reach falls. This was one of the best part of our entire trip...Fall was with little water but extraordinary for getting wet and enjoying the water. Spent almost 1 hour here...

Our car gave some trouble now. Did some fixes and started journey back to bangalore.

Had lunch in ???

Back to Bangalore by ???pm.
